Staff Report & Agenda Item Details

This item allows the Council to recognize Captain Doug Lauersdorf for his thirty-two years of outstanding service to the City of Friendswood and congratulate him on his well-deserved retirement. Over the past 32 years, Captain Lauersdorf has watched policing transform from paper, radios and gut instinct into a profession driven by technology, digital evidence, body-worn cameras, sophisticated communications, and investigative tools that would have seemed impossible in 1994. Through every change, one thing remained the same, Captain Lauersdorf showed up, led from the front, and got the job done. But don't worry, he's not getting away from law enforcement quite yet! After retiring from the Friendswood Police Department, Captain Lauersdorf is reporting for his next assignment as Chief Administrator/Chief of Police for the Alvin College Police Department. Apparently, his definition of retirement is “Retire from one police department… and become the boss at another.”
