Staff Report & Agenda Item Details

Tarrant Appraisal District's July 25 certified roll and adjusted certified totals provide the current-year values used in the City's truth-in-taxation calculations. Based on those values, the prior-year worksheet inputs, and the City's FY27 tax-supported debt-service requirement of $1,257,454 , staff's current calculated rates are $0.555999 for the no-new-revenue rate, $0.569028 for the voter-approval rate, and $0.609494 for the de minimis rate. Rates are stated per $100 of taxable value. Setting the proposed rate establishes the maximum rate Council may consider during the advertised adoption process; it does not adopt the tax rate. Council may adopt a lower rate on August 24, but a rate above the published proposal would require new action and notice. Tax Rate Comparison Rate measure Rate/$100 Proposed-rate comparison Tax on $100,000 2025 adopted rate $0.504796 — $504.80 2026 no-new-revenue rate $0.555999 +9.62% $556.00 2026 voter-approval rate $0.569028 +7.11% $569.03 2026 de minimis/proposed maximum $0.609494 Proposed $609.49 The proposed rate is $0.104698 (20.74%) above the 2025 adopted rate, $0.053495 (9.62%) above the no-new-revenue rate, and $0.040466 (7.11%) above the voter-approval rate. Property-tax illustrations are before exemptions and tax ceilings.
