5.O. Consider/Approve Ratification of Purchase of Gym Floor Replacement at Blalack Middle School Description: Priority #2: Optimize Facility, Safety & Security, and Infrastructure This purchase is to replace the damaged gym floor at Blalack Middle School caused by a fire sprinkler accidental discharge. The floor was deemed unsalvageable and recommended for complete replacement. District insurance will reimburse for a portion of the damage less the deductible. The total estimate for replacement is $189,500 from the general fund balance. It was necessary for this purchase to take place to ensure that the project would be completed before students return in August, as not to impede instruction and student safety. Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approves the purchase of the gym floor replacement and delegate authority to the Superintendent, or her designee, to execute purchases and contracts in the best interest of the District.
