CONSIDERATION/APPROVAL OF NAMING DISTRICT FACILITIES OR PORTIONS OF DISTRICT FACILITIES IN ACCORDANCE WITH BOARD POLICY CW(LOCAL) AND ADOPTION OF A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE OFFICIAL FACILITY NAMES: Speaker(s): Brandon Aycock, Board President Description: The Administration will present for Board consideration the naming of a District facility or portion of a District facility in accordance with Lorenzo ISD Board Policy CW(LOCAL). CW(LOCAL) provides that, when naming a District facility or portion of a District facility, the Board shall apply the following guidelines: A facility or portion of a facility may be named after a person who has served the District or community. A facility or portion of a facility may be named after any local, state, or national heroic figure. A facility or portion of a facility may be named after any local, state, or national geographic area. When a person’s name is considered, CW(LOCAL) further provides that the individual must have made a significant contribution to society and/or education and that the name should lend prestige and status to an institution of learning. The Board will consider the proposed naming of facilities in honor of the designated person or persons. The Board will consider the individual’s service, contributions, and relationship to the criteria established by CW(LOCAL). If any District facility or portion of a District facility is approved for renaming, the Board will adopt a Resolution formally naming the facility or facilities in honor of the identified person or persons and establishing the official name of each facility.
