Presented in: Middle Pecos GCD Board Meeting - 2026-04-21 on 2026-04-21
Staff Report & Agenda Item Details
2. P-13 Water Wells & Environmental Hazards A major priority is addressing the environmental risks associated with P-13 water wells, which are wells drilled to provide water for oil, gas, or mineral production. Regulatory Authority: The Committee is determining which state agency—the Railroad Commission of Texas or a different entity—should have primary oversight of hazards caused by discharges from these wells. Plugging & Funding: They are reviewing the projected costs of managing these hazards and identifying potential funding mechanisms to properly plug high-risk P-13 wells that threaten local water quality.
