9.Q. Annual Review and discussion of Policy DPB (LOCAL): Other Personnel Positions State law requires the board to adopt a policy requiring a school counselor to spend at least 80 percent of the school counselor’s work time on duties that are components of a comprehensive school counseling program (CSCP). The law requires further action if the board determines that, because of staffing needs in the district or at a campus, a school counselor cannot spend 80 percent of work time on CSCP components. Additionally, the board is required to annually review DPB(LOCAL) to assess the district’s compliance with the policy. Each year, the district should identify any school counselors who will not spend 80 percent of their time on components of the CSCP, for appropriate action under the policy.
