Staff Report & Agenda Item Details

The New City Hall Project remains on track to be fully operational by summer 2027. This resolution provides funding for the furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) needed for the new facility. The City, in coordination with Parkhill Architects, solicited and received three competitive bids from qualified furniture dealers. To maximize value and obtain the best pricing, the FF&E purchase is being divided among the three dealers based on the lowest responsive bids for the respective furniture manufacturers. The resolution authorizes contracts with Furniture Marketing Group, GL Seaman, and Tangram in a combined amount not to exceed $3,846,567.36, with funding provided through the Building Construction Fund.

Bastiat Liberty & Property Rights Analysis

This motion is scored as EXPANDS_GOVERNMENT (Impact Weight: 4.9/10). Under the Bastiat Liberty Watchdog Index, measures that increase tax rates or fee schedules, issue new debt or Certificates of Obligation, expand regulatory/zoning restrictions on private land use, or authorize unbudgeted spending expansions reduce an official's Freedom Score when voted YES (and reward dissenting NO votes).
