Staff Report & Agenda Item Details

The Rowlett Police, Fire, Public Works, Animal Services, Jail, and Code Enforcement Departments rely on the Public Safety Radio System as an essential communication tool for daily operations and emergency response. The proposed purchase will replace aging dispatch consoles, portable radios, radio system backbone equipment and software with current Motorola products. This will provide personnel with reliable and durable communication capabilities while improving interoperability and operational effectiveness across the affected City departments.

Bastiat Liberty & Property Rights Analysis

This motion is scored as EXPANDS_GOVERNMENT (Impact Weight: 2.6/10). Under the Bastiat Liberty Watchdog Index, measures that increase tax rates or fee schedules, issue new debt or Certificates of Obligation, expand regulatory/zoning restrictions on private land use, or authorize unbudgeted spending expansions reduce an official's Freedom Score when voted YES (and reward dissenting NO votes).
