Consider, discuss and take any necessary action regarding the proposed Fiscal Year 2026-2027 maximum tax rate and setting the dates for the public hearings on the tax rate and budget.
Official Roll-Call Vote
Staff Report & Agenda Item Details
Under state law the Council must take a record vote on the proposed maximum tax rate if the proposed rate exceeds the no-new-revenue rate. This vote is not approving or setting the tax rate, only recognizing it as the maximum proposed tax rate for the coming fiscal year. This must be done at this meeting. Notice will be published prior to the required public hearing and actual vote on the tax rate. The proposed maximum tax rate of $0.329001/$100 is higher than the “no new revenue” rate, and the “voter approval” rate, and is equal to the “de minimis” rate. Public hearings on the proposed tax rate and proposed budget are scheduled to take place at the August 18th meeting at town hall at 7:00 pm.
