Staff Report & Agenda Item Details

The Animal Shelter will participate in the Clear the Shelters Adoption Event on August 15–16, 2026. This marks the City of Richland Hills' third consecutive year participating in this nationwide initiative, which promotes pet adoption by offering free adoptions during the event. The City is partnering with the Humane Society of North Texas, the regional sponsor of the event, and will bring both dogs and cats available for adoption on each day. The event is expected to feature more than 1,000 adoptable animals from animal shelters and rescue organizations across Texas and Oklahoma, providing an excellent opportunity to increase pet adoptions and find permanent homes for shelter animals.
