Staff Report & Agenda Item Details

LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT Violet Mak of PEA Group (PEA), the District's landscape architects, updated the board on the status of design and plan preparations for the Nicholas P. Fava U.S. Marine Memorial Park. She requested board authorization to advertise for bids to construct the park when final plan approvals are received. She also reviewed a proposed agreement with the artist for design and casting of the U.S. Marine Corps. Globe, Anchor and Eagle sculpture for the park. The board expressed concerns with respect to language in the proposed agreement imposing liability on the District for failures on the part of the artist's foundry vendor. After discussion, upon motion by Mr. Whisler, seconded by Mr. Pershall, and unanimously carried, the board authorized PEA to advertise for bids for construction of the park, and approved the Agreement for Commission of Artwork provided that the foundry vendor is made subject to board approval.
