Staff Report & Agenda Item Details

We will be celebrating the 239th anniversary of the American Constitution the week of September 17 – 23. The United States Constitution, America’s most important document, stands as a testament to the tenacity of Americans throughout history to maintain their liberties, freedoms and inalienable rights. Constitution Week is celebrated annually during this week to commemorate its history, importance, and bring attention to how it still serves today. This celebration of the Constitution was started by the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). In 1955, DAR petitioned Congress to set aside this week annually and the resolution was later adopted by the US Congress and signed into public law on August 2, 1956, by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. We hope you find a special way to celebrate Constitution Week in your homes, at school or throughout our community during the week of September 17 – 23. God Bless America!

Bastiat Liberty & Property Rights Analysis

This motion is scored as EXPANDS_GOVERNMENT (Impact Weight: 2.1/10). Under the Bastiat Liberty Watchdog Index, measures that increase tax rates or fee schedules, issue new debt or Certificates of Obligation, expand regulatory/zoning restrictions on private land use, or authorize unbudgeted spending expansions reduce an official's Freedom Score when voted YES (and reward dissenting NO votes).
