Staff Report & Agenda Item Details

5. Hear Delinquent Tax Report and consider contract renewal. Mr. Wilson recognized Mr. Mendoza, who presented to and reviewed with the Board the Delinquent Tax Report, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit D. Discussion ensued. Mr. Mendoza noted that there is no action to be taken. Mr. Mendoza informed the Board that the District’s current contract with Linebarger expires November 30, 2024 and that the contract has a clause that allows the contract to renew year to year. He asked if the Board would like to follow the current contract, or if the Board would like Linebarger to prepare a new contract. It was the consensus of the board to follow and renew the current contract with the one year renewal increments.

Bastiat Liberty & Property Rights Analysis

This motion is scored as EXPANDS_GOVERNMENT (Impact Weight: 2.9/10). Under the Bastiat Liberty Watchdog Index, measures that increase tax rates or fee schedules, issue new debt or Certificates of Obligation, expand regulatory/zoning restrictions on private land use, or authorize unbudgeted spending expansions reduce an official's Freedom Score when voted YES (and reward dissenting NO votes).
