Staff Report & Agenda Item Details

The Court has determined the composition of the Elected Official's Salary Grievance Committee. The Court is needing to randomly select additional potential members of the public. Public members should be selected “at a meeting of the court” from the names of the grand jurors who have served in the county during the preceding calendar year. The County Clerk is to place those names on slips of paper, and mix them in a container so that the County Judge can randomly select the number equal to the number of public members needed for the committee. In addition to the number of public members needed for the committee, the County Judge should also select sufficient alternates in the event that the initially selected members are unable to serve.

Bastiat Liberty & Property Rights Analysis

This motion is scored as EXPANDS_GOVERNMENT (Impact Weight: 2.1/10). Under the Bastiat Liberty Watchdog Index, measures that increase tax rates or fee schedules, issue new debt or Certificates of Obligation, expand regulatory/zoning restrictions on private land use, or authorize unbudgeted spending expansions reduce an official's Freedom Score when voted YES (and reward dissenting NO votes).
