Staff Report & Agenda Item Details

The request is a special use permit to allow a crematorium and a funeral home. These land uses are separated in our old zoning ordinance. Therefore, the best path forward would be a special use and allow the underlaying zoning to remain. The underlying zoning district is Heavy Commercial (CH). The request is compatible with the surrounding landscaping and light industrial to heavy commercial entities calling this part of San Angelo home.

There was concern from a neighboring business about parking. However, the applicants discussed their plan and it seems parking for the funeral side of the operation would not be as large of a need as the property has 2 acres for parking and stacking.

The Planning Commission heard the case on July 20th and made a recommendation of approval with a 6-0 vote.
