Staff Report & Agenda Item Details

<p style="margin-left:0in;" data-pasted="true">The proposed text amendments to Section 77-504(H) of the Rowlett Development Code modify the review and approval process for tree removal permits involving the removal of more than three trees. Under the existing regulations, these requests require approval by the City Council following a recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Commission. The proposed amendments would establish the Planning and Zoning Commission as the final approval authority for qualifying tree removal permits while retaining City Council approval authority for requests to pay (or waive) a tree mitigation fee in lieu of planting replacement trees. In conjunction with these amendments, staff is proposing the repeal of Article II Section 98 (Vegetation) of the Code of Ordinances. The provisions contained within Section 98 regulate the same tree preservation requirements already addressed by Section 77-504(H) of the Rowlett Development Code. </p>
