RUBEN ALFARO: 20 years Ruben joined the San Antonio River Authority on March 7, 2005, as an Equipment Operator I, beginning a career defined by dedication, reliability, and pride in his work. From day one, Ruben demonstrated a strong commitment to the organization and the community we serve. In 2009, he was promoted to Equipment Operator II, reflecting both his work ethic and his readiness to take on greater responsibility. By 2014, Ruben advanced to Equipment Lead Specialist, where he became a trusted expert in heavy equipment operations—playing a critical role in supporting construction activities, maintaining service continuity, and responding to operational challenges at Randolph Air Force Base. Ruben continued to grow with the organization, earning promotion to Senior Collection System Specialist in 2021. In 2022, his role evolved into Collection Operator V, where he remained a key member of the Construction Department. Throughout his career, Ruben has been instrumental in responding to service disruptions, resolving customer issues, and ensuring the reliability of our collection system. His willingness to step in, take ownership, and support his team has never wavered. Ruben has built a reputation as someone we can always count on—approaching every task with diligence, attention to detail, and a steady commitment to getting the job done right. He has been a valued partner to colleagues and external stakeholders alike, including his work with JBSA. Over more than two decades of service, Ruben’s career reflects not only professional growth, but also a deep sense of responsibility and pride in public service. His knowledge, experience, and quiet leadership have made a lasting impact on the River Authority and on those who have had the privilege to work alongside him. As Ruben begins his well-earned retirement, we thank him for his years of dedicated service and wish him all the best in this next chapter.
