Presentation and Discussion Regarding the San Antonio River Authority Invasive Species Monitoring and Management Program

The San Antonio River Authority (River Authority) has a robust invasive/non-native species management program with a focus on strong monitoring protocol, proactive management and removal activities and effective community outreach. Staff will discuss the strategies deployed throughout the program, including zebra mussel monitoring and regional collaboration, apple snail removal and River Warrior engagement, plant monitoring and removal efforts, nutria trapping, avian research and the recently launched "Don't Tank the River" campaign. Staff will also discuss potential solutions to persistent community issues, such as dense urban bird rookeries.
