Executive Summary & Impact

The Town has provided transit services for over 65 and disabled residents since 2015. We were first served by TAPS and that service was taken over by DART in 2016. On February 1, 2024, Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) began providing demand responsive transportation services within the Town of Fairview and the City of Allen under the program name Collin County Rides. Fairview residents can utilize Collin County Rides if they are 65 years of age or older or have a qualifying disability. The DCTA Collin County Rides program features a dedicated fleet of standard and wheelchair-accessible minivans to transport qualifying Fairview residents anywhere in Collin County on an appointment basis. Trips must either begin or end in Fairview. Service hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., except for major holidays. Customers pay only 25% of trip costs until they spend $125 in a calendar month, at which point they are charged 100% of the trip cost. In FY26 from October through July, a total of 800 one-way trips were taken by qualifying Fairview residents, which is 90 trips less than that same timeframe in FY25. The chart below shows that April, May and July of FY26 were the months that contributed to the overall decrease in one-way trips taken. Data for the first six months of FY26 shows positive growth regarding total number of one-way trips taken when compared to that same timeframe in FY25. There are 20 qualifying Fairview residents actively using Collin County Rides at this time, which is the same number of qualifying residents that utilized the program in FY25.
