14.H. Discussion and Possible Action to Consider Increasing Student lunch Prices for the 2026-2027 school year Description: Over the past several years, the cost of operating the food service program has increased significantly. The cost of food, supplies, labor, equipment, and other operational expenses has continued to rise. These increases have created additional financial pressure on the Food Service Fund and have made it increasingly difficult to maintain current meal prices without placing a greater financial burden on the district’s general operating funds. In addition to increased operating costs, federal reimbursement rates and other program revenues do not always fully cover the cost of providing meals. The district must therefore regularly evaluate meal prices to ensure that the Food Service Department remains financially responsible and able to continue providing quality meals to students and staff. The proposed increase in meal prices is intended to help offset rising operational costs and maintain the long-term financial stability of the district’s food service program. Any proposed adjustment would be carefully considered to balance the financial needs of the program with the impact on students, families, and employees.
