CONSIDERATION AND APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE COMAL INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT PROVIDING CALLING FOR REDEMPTION OF CERTAIN CURRENTLY OUTSTANDING DISTRICT OBLIGATIONS; DIRECTING THAT THE BOARD SECRETARY, OR DESIGNEE, EFFECTUATE THE REDEMPTION OF THESE OBLIGATIONS; AND OTHER MATTERS IN CONNECTION THEREWITH Presenter: Larry Guerra Description: Background: The District has bonds eligible for defeasance. The continuing effort of the District to manage a stable I&S rate at $0.35 cents allows the District to defease, or redeem, a minimum of $8,000,000 in principal in the 2026-27 fiscal year. This action will maintain the Board’s efforts to pay off debt early whenever possible, creating interest savings and providing capacity for future capital projects, again while maintaining the stable $0.35 cent I&S tax rate. Recommendation : It is the recommendation of the Superintendent that the Board of Trustees approve and adopt a resolution providing for the District defeasance and redemption of certain currently outstanding District obligations.
