Discussion Regarding Strategic Plan Priorities Dr. Fred Cerise presented proposed updates to the strategic plan, emphasizing a streamlined framework organized around three core priorities: seamless access, quality, and mission sustainability. Under seamless access, he highlighted objectives to improve patient navigation and experience across the care continuum, reorganize select service lines (e.g., oncology, ENT, orthopedics) under unified clinical and administrative structures, simplify the financial assistance program to reduce barriers, strengthen continuity of care with community partners, and improve inpatient and outpatient throughput to increase capacity without additional infrastructure. Under quality, priorities include advancing high reliability organization (HRO) practices, improving key clinical metrics such as infection rates and CMS quality scores, expanding population health efforts through screening and outreach (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, cancer), and strengthening signature programs such as WISH, trauma, and burn to maintain regional leadership. Under mission sustainability, Dr. Cerise outlined goals to enhance workforce recruitment, development, and retention, optimize revenue through improved billing and ACA exchange participation, manage costs through operational efficiencies, advance AI-driven innovation, and strengthen community partnerships while ensuring business continuity preparedness.
