12.B. Consider Approval of Revised Student Cafeteria Charge Limits Presenter: Robert Helms Description: Administration recommends revising student cafeteria charge limits to better support students and families while maintaining appropriate financial accountability. Students will be permitted to accrue up to $50 in negative charges for reimbursable meals and up to $10 in negative charges for non-reimbursable or à la carte purchases. The Food Service Secretary will regularly report outstanding balances to campus principals, so campuses can work directly with families, assist with meal applications and available supports, and address balances before students reach the established limits. Once the applicable charge limit is reached, additional charges in that category will not be permitted and a sack lunch will be provided. Primary and Intermediate students continue to receive reimbursable meals at no cost; however, the $10 limit for non-reimbursable or à la carte purchases will apply.

This motion is scored as EXPANDS_GOVERNMENT (Impact Weight: 2.8/10). Under the Bastiat Liberty Watchdog Index, measures that increase tax rates or fee schedules, issue new debt or Certificates of Obligation, expand regulatory/zoning restrictions on private land use, or authorize unbudgeted spending expansions reduce an official's Freedom Score when voted YES (and reward dissenting NO votes).
