IX.A. Consideration and Possible Action to Approve a Proposal from SustainED to Support Bluebonnet K-5 Implementation, K-5 Math Planning, and Secondary Math Planning Presenter: Rick Kirkpatrick Description: FISD was awarded the LASO (Learning Acceleration and Support Opportunities) IV LIFT (Leadership and Instructional Foundations for Texas) grant in the amount of $486,000.00. As a requirement of the grant, 70% of the grant award must be used to contract with a TEA Approved Vendor. SustainED has already begun working with the district to establish the master schedule and professional development activities as we implement the Bluebonnet K-5 Reading Language Arts curriculum at FES. SustainED will work with district and campus leaders to build our capacity to lead continuous instructional improvement. They will provide the necessary professional development to ensure our staff is prepared to implement the new curriculum and they will work side-by-side with our staff in the classroom setting weekly to support the implementation of the new curriculum. In addition, they will work with district and campus leaders to evaluate our current math curriculum and help us select and implement a High Quality math curriculum in areas noted for improvement. Assuming the District remains in good standing with this grant, we will be eligible for additional grant funding for the following two years.
