DANIEL FLORES: 38 YEARS Today, we recognize and celebrate the retirement of Daniel, whose remarkable career with the San Antionio River Authority (River Authority) spans nearly four decades of dedicated service. Daniel joined the River Authority on July 20, 1987, as a Utilities Crewman. It didn’t take long for his talent and commitment to become clear. He was promoted to Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I in 1990, then to Operator II in 1991, Operator III in 1998, and Operator IV in 2001. On October 6, 2003, Daniel stepped into the role of Utilities Quality Control Superintendent—a position he has held with exceptional skill, leadership, and integrity. Throughout his career, Daniel earned and maintained a Wastewater Treatment Operator A license and a Groundwater Treatment Operator B license from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. These credentials reflect the depth of his technical knowledge and his ongoing commitment to excellence. As Quality Control Superintendent, Daniel has been responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance across all of our wastewater treatment plants and the entire collection system. He has overseen critical reporting on effluent flows, E. coli, ammonia nitrogen, and sanitary sewer overflows. He and his team have developed and maintained operations manuals, stormwater plans, and emergency response plans—cornerstone documents that support the safety, reliability, and effectiveness of our operations. More recently, Daniel has led the modernization of our treatment data collection, integration with our Labworks system, and data visualization. Not only does this allow for real-time data visualization of plant operations, but it also allows for more seamless reporting to TCEQ through their online reporting platform. This process improvement is not only more efficient for staff, but allows for operations and Utilities management to leverage data collected to improve operations. This work will continue to benefit the River Authority long after his retirement. Daniel is known throughout the organization as an exceptionally knowledgeable and organized professional. He has been a mentor to the entire Utilities staff, modeling integrity, precision, and a deep sense of responsibility. His motivation has always been clear: to ensure that our work makes a lasting, positive impact on the communities we serve. Daniel, your legacy is woven into every part of our operations. On behalf of the River Authority, we thank you for your extraordinary dedication, your leadership, and your decades of service. We wish you the very best in your well‑deserved retirement. BENJAMIN JANYSEK: 26 YEARS On behalf of the San Antonio River Authority (River Authority), it is with great admiration and gratitude that we acknowledge your retirement after 26 years of dedicated service. Since joining the Watershed Park & Operations Department on May 3, 1999, your career has been marked by steady growth, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to our mission. Your leadership in the debris removal program, the development of the Goliad Paddling Trail, and the success of Escondido Parkway stand as testaments to your vision and dedication. When Escondido Parkway opened in 2020, you embraced new responsibilities with enthusiasm, as shown by your earning certifications to ensure the safety and enjoyment of our visitors. Beyond your technical expertise, your generosity of spirit and commitment to supporting youth in agriculture and agri-business have made you a respected figure in the community.
