Staff Report & Agenda Item Details
The San Antonio River Authority (River Authority) signed an Operations and Maintenance Agreement for the Mission Reach Segment Facilities of the San Antonio River Improvements Project (ILA) with Bexar County in 2014. Under the 2014 ILA, the River Authority will fund all non-structural maintenance and repairs, while Bexar County will fund all structural repairs. The River Authority conducted a pedestrian bridge inspection program in 2025. The River Authority observed damage to the concrete abutments of Concepción Bridge, caused by thermal expansion. A repair design was completed to address the identified damage and strengthen the north and south abutments of the Concepción Bridge. The Concepción Bridge Repair Project will complete the repairs and restore structural integrity to the abutment structures. Task Order #05 covers structural repairs at the Concepción Bridge, including reinforcement of the north and south concrete abutments. The River Authority will manage project construction and administration, while Bexar County will provide project funding. The project is scheduled for completion by March 31, 2027.
