James Sanchez - 20 years Congratulations to James Sanchez on 20 years of dedicated service with the San Antonio River Authority (River Authority). James began his career on August 7, 2006, as a Utilities Crewman and quickly established himself as a dependable team member with a strong work ethic and willingness to take on new responsibilities. His early progression included promotions to Collection System Crewman in 2007 and Utilities Crewman II in 2009, reflecting his growing technical knowledge, reliability and commitment to supporting the organization’s mission. In April 2009, James transitioned into Watershed & Park Operations and was promoted to Lock & Dam Foreman, marking an important step in his leadership journey. His title later changed to Operations Foreman in 2016, and through years of steady service, field experience and team-focused leadership, he continued to earn greater responsibility. In March 2023, James was promoted to Superintendent, Watershed & Park Operations, where he continues to help guide crews, support operations and contribute to the care and stewardship of River Authority assets. Beyond his professional accomplishments, James is known for valuing teamwork, building strong relationships and bringing a positive presence to those around him. Whether he is supporting his crew, spending time with his family, enjoying good BBQ or cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, James brings the same loyalty, pride and dedication that have defined his two decades with the River Authority. We thank James for his 20 years of service and congratulate him on this well-deserved milestone. Rita Rodriguez - 20 years Rita joined the River Authority on July 3, 2006, as a GIS Tech II in the Utilities Department. She was promoted to GIS Tech III in September 2015. In this position, Rita assisted and then led the effort to create and maintain GIS maps of the collection system at Salatrillo and Martinez WWTPs. In August 2019, she transitioned into the role of Development Inspector. In this new role, Rita inspected connections to our wastewater collection system and interacted with contractors and home builders to ensure compliance with standards. She also mapped new connections. In February 2022, Rita moved to the Engineering Department and was promoted to Construction Inspector I, which is the position she currently holds. Rita worked on the San Pedro Creek Project to ensure quality and schedule compliance. She has also worked on the Nueva St Marina Fabridam Project, the Museum Reach Electrical Retrofit Project, the Zarzamora Creek Trails Project and developer coordination, ensuring areas of Mission Reach are restored to standards. She received the SARA Star Award in 2022. In each role, she has undertaken specialized training to better prepare her for the work at hand, most recently completing training in Concrete Special Inspections and Low Impact Development. Her attention to detail and interest in learning new things contribute to successful project construction and demonstrate her commitment to excellence in our work. Congratulations on 20 years of service, Rita!
