Official Roll-Call Vote
Staff Report & Agenda Item Details
The Texas Election Code enables the San Antonio River Authority (River Authority) to avoid the expense of an election when there is but one candidate for an office. In this circumstance, the Secretary of the River Authority Board of Directors must certify, in writing, the candidates who are unopposed. This certification then becomes the basis for the declaration by the River Authority Board of Directors of the unopposed candidates’ election to office and the corresponding cancellation of the election that would have been held had any opposing candidates either filed by the filing deadline or been listed as write-in candidates. For the election on November 4, 2025, the Secretary of the River Authority Board of Directors will sign a Certification of Unopposed Status certifying that the following candidates for the respective offices are unopposed: Bexar at large Patrice A. Melancon Bexar Cistrict 1 Jerry G. Gonzales Bexar District 2 Lourdes Galvan Wilson at large Derek J. Gaudlitz Karnes at large Gaylon J. Oehlke Goliad at large Wilfred W. Korth, Jr. Attached for approval is Ordinance O-1515 declaring the unopposed candidates for the above referenced directors elected to office for a term to begin after the November 4, 2025, general election. The new directors will be sworn in and take the oath of office on January 12, 2026, when they will begin to act in their official capacity as a River Authority Director.
