Discussion and possible action to authorize the submission to the U.S. Army of the Innovative Readiness Training (IRT): Medical Application grant application for a proposed medical mission to serve residents of rural Webb County Colonias during Fiscal Year 2027/2028. The proposed medical mission will provide medical, dental and vision services, along with limited veterinary services. The grant requires Webb County to provide sites and limited logistical costs; authorizing the County Judge to execute all relevant documents, including the required resolution, and any other matters incident thereto. Issue: Residents of rural Webb County Colonias residents have limited access to medical, dental and vision services. Additionally, the proposed IRT Medical Mission will provide military personnel with hands-on training and community relations experience. Solution: Authorize the Webb County Economic Development Department to develop and submit the Innovative Readiness Training (IRT): Medical Application. Result: If awarded, the IRT Medical Mission will provide medical, dental, vision and veterinary services to residents of rural Webb County Colonias while providing military personnel with more than 100 hours of training and hands-on experience.
