5. Conduct a public hearing to receive public comment on budget and proposed tax rate of $1.2714. (Discussion Only) Description: The Board will conduct the required public hearing on the District’s proposed 2026-2027 budget and proposed total tax rate of $1.2714 per $100 of taxable value, which is the same total tax rate adopted by the District last year. The total tax rate consists of two components: the Maintenance and Operations (M&O) rate, which funds the District’s day-to-day operations, and the Interest and Sinking (I&S) rate, which is used to make payments on voter-approved bonded debt. The public hearing provides taxpayers and other interested members of the community an opportunity to comment on the tax rate before the Board considers adoption. No action will be taken under this item. The tax rate will be considered under a separate agenda item.
